My name is Carlos; I am a 24 year old third year law student. I caught the travel bug when I was 20 years old and sailed around the world on the MV Explorer from Jan. 2008 to May 2008. It was the most amazing experience of my life. I learned a lot about myself along the journey, I don't know if I would have the passion for travel I do now if it was not for that experience. Ever since I can’t get enough, going so many places I would've never even dreamed just a few years ago when I was complacently trapped in my American bubble. In what is presumably my last summer of freedom before I become imprisoned by corporate America, I am embarking on a journey through South America. Mostly to become fluent in a language I should’ve been taught a long time ago as a child being half Puerto Rican, but also to see, learn, explore and grow in a way only possible through travel.

Honeymooning Around The World

Beanie Crew

Clearly the best honeymoon idea ever, Laurie and Kitty the hilarious Aussie engineering couple who have been married now 5 months have been on their year long around the world honeymoon for 3 months.
I don’t think I have ever heard of such a cool idea.  Somewhere along those 3 months both have learned to crotchet for long bus rides.  When Mike and I met them Laurie was making a sweet beanie, which I ended up getting to keep in turn for giving Laurie some Vodka.  It was a sweet tradeoff as the beanie is pretty awesome and I have been wearing it a lot as it is cold in Bogota.  Mike of course wanted one and since Laurie could turn them out pretty quickly he ended up making Mike one too before he left.  They taught us the game of Chanche Va which is similar to spoons except you don’t get kicked out of the game once you lose and there are no spoons.  If after someone gets 4 of a kind you are the last one with your hand on the table you have to take a shot.  I guess it is from Peru with Peruvian playing cards to match.
